ACTIVITIES, LEISURE AND VISITS AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
The possibilities of visits and activities are numerous in the region and are practiced in the spirit of authenticity of local experiences.
Whether on adventurous walks or trekking in the surrounding White Mountains.
Basking under an azure sky in the crystal clear waters of small lost coves lined with local conifers. Or by scuba diving in the southwest of the island.
The nearby archaeological sites are located in Aptera, Armeni and Rethymnon and one still enjoys the pleasure of a visit devoid of modern museum infrastructures.
That said, the main archaeological sites of Crete are located in Knossos, Phaistos and Malia which can be reached by car.
The city of Chania is very close. And alongside its picturesque nooks and traces of its Venetian past, it offers beaches (Balos, Elafonissi, Falassarna…) which are among the most beautiful in Greece.
Most of the diving centers are on the northern coasts of Chania while windsurfing and kitesurfing develop more on the western coasts of the city.
The region of Chania is also ideal for hikes to discover authentic villages and isolated beaches. The Samaria gorge – one of the longest in Europe at 16 km – accessible only from spring to autumn, is the most popular hike of all.
