LOCATION
Filerimos is an idyllic neighborhood that embodies a perfect blend of sophistication, and the awe- inspiring landscapes that surround it. Villa Ella is nestled on the slopes of the lush green Filerimos hill, northwest of the island of Rhodes. The area is easily accessible by car, situated 8 km from the city of Rhodes and 8.6 km from Diagoras International Airport. It is also only 3 km away from the beautiful sandy-pebbled beach of Ialysos. Ialysos is the second-largest town on the island of Rhodes and one of the first three ancient cities dating back to 1500BC. One of the most significant archaeological sites on the island can be found on the hill of Filerimos, featuring the remains of the temple of Zeus and Athena, the remnants of the Byzantine fortifications, the 14th century church of the Knights of St. John and the stops Jesus took to the road to Calavary; a landscape adorned with majestic Cypress trees and remarkable shrines that graced both sides of the path. There is a 70m high cross at the end of the path, with a steep stairwell leading to the top – the stunning views from this vantage point overlooking Rhodes are second
to none!
Parking for all types of vehicles is available on site free of charge.
Dining options, supermarkets and grocery stores, are only 5 min drive from Villa Ella.
ABOUT IALYSOS The town is situated near the site of the ancient Doric polis of Ialysos, homeland of the famous ancient boxer Diagoras of Rhodes. The municipal unit consists of the town Trianta/Ialysos and the surrounding areas. While official sources use Trianta as a name for the town, and Ialysos for the whole municipal unit, unofficial usage tend to favour Ialysos to describe both the modern town and the municipal unit.

WORTH-SEEING
Lindos village, one of the most popular destinations on the island and very well known for its particular style of architecture called “Arhontiko” as well as the majestic “Acropolis of Lindos”, is located only 20 km east from Lachania and is easily accessible by car. The Valley of the Butterflies (Petaloudes) is another one of the landmarks of the island: the "Zitia" tree, which is found in a few parts of the Mediterranean, hosts millions of butterflies that peacefully hang in the shadowy wet paths it creates with the brook, which occasionally is transformed to lakes and small waterfalls. Filerimos mountain,, is a hill 267 meters high overlooking the small town of Ialyssos and the bay of Ixia and Trianda. It is an ideal place to enjoy stunning panoramic views of the Aegean Sea as well as to take a walk in the nature with the numerous cypresses, pines and other types of trees surrounding the area. At the top of the hill rests the Monastery of Filerimos as well as ruins from the temple of Athena Polias since this is the place where the ancient city of Ialysos used to be. A flight of stairs in the entrance leads up to an avenue of cypresses and bougainvillea ending in the cloister and the foundations of the temple. On the other direction, stunted pastel cedars create an archway leading to the belvedere where a few years ago a gigantic Cross made of concrete was erected. The Old City of Rhodes with a current population of 6,000 inhabitants is surrounded by medieval walls with seven gates: Gate of the Naval Station, Gate of Agios Ioannis, Gate of Agia Ekaterini, Gate of the Apostle Paul, Gate of Amboise, Gate of Agios Athanassios and the Gate of the Port. To enter any of these gates is to enter another world.
